Special stamp of the Deutsche Post

On the occasion of Max Weber’s 150th birthday on  April 21st, 2014, the Federal Ministry of Finance issued a special stamp. During a small official ceremony the stamp was presented on April 29th, 2014 at the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities. Key note speakers were the Academy’s president Professor Karl-Heinz Hoffmann, ministerial director Dr. Bruno Kahl, Dr. Hans-Georg Küppers, member of the city of Munich’s culture department, Professor Hans van Ess, vice president of the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich, Professor Gangolf Hübinger, co-editor of the Max Weber-Gesamtausgabe and Professor Friedrich Wilhelm Graf, chairman of the Academy's Commission for Social and Economic History. A very special moment occurred when Florian Schwarz recited writings by Max Weber.

Celebration at the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities

On the occasion of Max Weber’s 150th birthday the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities in its magazine Akademie Aktuell published a special edition reporting on Weber’s biography, his work and the edition of the Max Weber-Gesamtausgabe. Richly illustrated this edition of Akademie Aktuell became a very special one.

Series of Lectures at Münchner Volkshochschule

In cooperation with the Münchner Volkshochschule the Kommission für Sozial- und Wirtschaftsgeschichte honored Max Weber with a series of ten lectures. A highlight of the series „In der entzauberten Welt. 150 Jahre Max Weber“ was the final discussion. It took place at the Academy, with M. Rainer Lepsius and Jürgen Kaube as contestants and Friedrich Wilhelm Graf as anchorman. ARD-alpha aired this event on August 26th, 2014 titled „150 Jahre nach Max Weber. Zwischenbetrachtungen im Prozess der Rationalisierung“.
