Publication activity
In keeping with its founding concerns, the commission supervised projects to research Bavarian social and economic history. The last study by the commission to appear in the Academy's series of publications was the work of Cornelia Meyer-Stoll: "The weight and measure reforms in Germany in the 19th century with special consideration of the role of Carl August Steinheil and the Bavarian Academy of Sciences".
The supervision of the historical-critical Max Weber Complete Edition (MWG) has been the focus of the commission's work since 1975. Johannes Winckelmann's Max Weber library and collection also served this purpose. The Max Weber Complete Edition was published on behalf of the Commission for Social and Economic History. Since 1976, the general editorial office of the complete edition were located in Munich. In addition to the institutional responsibility, the edition primarily required the expertise of the Commission for Social and Economic History. The long-standing commission chairman Knut Borchardt, in collaboration with Cornelia Meyer-Stoll, edited Max Weber's stock market writings (MWG I/5), the economic chapter of the first edition of "Economy and Society" (MWG I/23) and accompanied the edition of the economic lectures with expert expertise.
